After the May 12 Wenchuan earthquake, the school staff and their families have been fighting in the front line of the earthquake relief work. They living in the simple tents did various preparatory work and the campus restoration work.
To ensure that more than 2,000 college graduates can successfully completed back-to-school graduation work and the other students can come back school to study in early September and to improve the living conditions of the staff, our college applied for the resettlement transition rooms which was greatly supported by Zhongtai Construction Company in Langfang City, Hebei Province. On June 7 Li Hongtao, the deputy director of Langfang Construction Bureau and Peng Qingping, the general manager of the Sichuan branch of Zhongtai Construction company came to our school to see our school’s conditions and after that they immediately decleared that they would help us to build the resettlement transition rooms. Through the efforts of all of us finally on June 8 the major directors of Heibei Construction Department and Du Jiangyan Earthquake Relief Headquarter signed to agree the constuction of the resettlement transition rooms in our school. So the resettlement transition work in our school has made a breakthrough progress.
Those resettlement transition rooms will be constructed in the playgrounds and basketball courts on the main campus and the west campus, which consist of 64 classrooms and 385 domitories. Meanwhile the other supporting projects such as water supply, power supply and sewage disposal...will also be completed. The construction work will start immediately. It can be expected that the college staff and the students will soon move in the standard and clean transition rooms. |
